The Case for Security Management
Over recent years the need to be more security conscious in the workplace has grown beyond recognition. Gone are the days when we all used one application, from one device, in one way. Today’s IT architecture is much different.
Myriads of applications on multiples of devices all connecting in a different number of ways and in all this, ICT Security departments are called to keep track and maintain a perimeter which no longer exists.

As a result of this sharp change in the way that we connect to the network, changes to the way we manage the security of the network should also have occurred, however in many cases, this is just not the case. For many organisations are still trying to protect the perimeter without realising the vast number of holes and vulnerabilities that exist which leaves the perimeter security useless.
One approach is to try to enforce policies upon the workforce which tie down access, yet this, in the ever changing world that we live in, just restricts efficiencies that are damaging to the organisation or leads to the employee using alternative methods of access leaving the perimeter breached again.
There is a balance to be found where employees can access these multiple devices in different ways through various applications along with the services they require without compromising the integrity of the network. Next Generation security appliances that provide content aware security policies provide such a balance. In the brave new world of next generation appliances it is the user credentials and the application content that policies are built around.
However, there is a paradox of the increased security abilities of the next generation devices. As more alerts for breaches are seen, the less the Security team have to deal with them to verify whether they are real vulnerabilities or not. Having a managed service providing continual monitoring of alerts takes away the pressure on IT teams to respond and in some case understand what the implications are.
IT Security is becoming ever more complex to manage, Accumuli Security, specialists in network security and can manage and monitor security appliances in real-time giving you the edge in securing your network.
