Infoblox, Cricket Liu and Nominet Seminar Presenation Slides

If you have missed today's DNSSEC seminar hosted by Infoblox, Cricket Liu & F5 in London today (11.11.10) you can download the presentation slides below.

Your DNS is probably the most vulnerable aspect of your IT infrastructure having been largely ignored or overlooked. This is generally due to lack of knowledge about the potential financial and brand implications to your organisation, and also because DNS security has been perceived as costly and complicated to implement.

In 2008, Dan Kaminsky highlighted one in a series of serious DNS flaws that allowed hackers to not only redirect end-users to alternative, malicious banking sites or online retail portals but to take over any application that uses DNS. DNSSEC is the solution to this on-going vulnerability.

The root zone was signed and keys released on the 15th July. With Nominet also signing .uk earlier this year and accelerating the plans for signing the second level domains, 2010 has become the year in which adoption of DNSSEC is becoming a reality.

The seminar covered:

  • Why is Nominet driving the adoption of DNSSEC
  • The roadmap for the signing of the second level domains
  • The market opportunity that DNSSEC represents

Cricket Liu:

  • Why and how hackers are targeting your DNS infrastructure
  • The dangers to your organisation and your customers
  • DNSSEC and why it's necessary for long-term security and the implication of not deploying DNSSEC
  • Automating DNSSEC management
